Your morning starts in the dark. You meet the coach at Canungra or Nerang at about 5 am (the exact time is confirmed when you book, and it moves with the season) and ride out to the launch site, where the balloon is inflated in front of you.
Then you fly. Your pilot takes the balloon over the Gold Coast Hinterland and the Scenic Rim in the early morning, and the wind decides the route on the day. Expect commentary from the pilot along the way.
After landing, the crew pack the balloon away and it’s a short drive to O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard. Breakfast is on the verandah of the old homestead: a full cooked breakfast with sparkling wine, a tasting of wines from O’Reilly’s cellar, and the alpacas from Mountview Alpaca Farm on the grounds, which run down to Canungra Creek.
The coach returns you to your meeting point between about 9.45 and 10.30 am.
Flights run on Saturdays and Sundays only. Tell us your date and how many of you are coming, and we’ll put your request to Hot Air Balloon Co, then confirm once it’s locked in.
Bring your ticket, walking shoes, a camera, a hat with a peak, sunglasses and a bottle of water. Wear casual layers for the outdoors, and skip white.
Breakfast comes with sparkling wine and a tasting. If you’re driving yourself to Canungra or Nerang, arrange a driver for the way home or pace yourself.
